Engine Efficiency

The Euro 5-compliant 115 kW 1.6-litre high pressure turbo engine, first seen on the 207, introduced a new family of petrol engines for Peugeot incorporating innovative technologies and offering high-level performance.

This 1.6-litre turbo engine is a 4-cylinder 1598 cc with a maximum power of 115 kW at 6000 rpm. It has a sixteen-valve cylinder head with two overhead camshafts. The reason for the technical choice of a 4-cylinder 1.6-litre engine is that small turbocharged engines, having a high specific power, offer a significant advantage in terms of fuel consumption by comparison with conventional normally aspirated engines of larger capacity. This strategy of downsizing (reduction in engine capacity) is similar to that applied in the area of our HDi diesels.

This new petrol engine therefore has highly innovative technological equipment, capable of providing the 207, 308, 3008, RCZ and 508 with a verve and driving pleasure worthy of engines of higher capacity. Its high performance levels testify to this. Fuel consumption and emissions were reduced by around 10%.
