A fourth Peugeot 908 HDi FAP will race at Le Mans

Peugeot Sport Gives Pescarolo Sport a 908 HDi FAP to Compete in the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours

At its annual pre-season press conference two weeks ago, Peugeot announced that its priority objective for 2009 is to win the Le Mans 24 Hours with a line-up of three 908 HDi FAPs. However, given the extremely fierce competition the team expects to face in this year's edition of the celebrated endurance race, Peugeot Sport has decided to make a fourth 908 HDi FAP available. This car will be run by Pescarolo Sport.

For some months now, Peugeot Sport had been investigating the possibility of entering an additional car for this year's Le Mans 24 Hours. The decision has today been taken and this car will be run by Pescarolo Sport whose prototypes were powered by Peugeot engines during the early part of the decade. Pescarolo Sport also ran 406 and 407 Silhouette Coupés in the French Super-Touring Car Championship in 2004 and 2005. Henri Pescarolo's professionalism and exceptional experience of Le Mans were further factors which swayed the decision of Peugeot Sport and its director Olivier Quesnel to give him a 908 HDi FAP to run.

"Given that we were materially in a position to provide a fourth, 2008-specification car which complies with the 2009 regulations, our choice quite naturally went to Henri Pescarolo," confirms Olivier Quesnel. "In addition to his unique experience of Le Mans, Henri played a part in the very early stages of the 908 project. We are delighted that he has been able to source the necessary backing to enter a 908 HDi FAP in the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours."
